Ian first picked up the guitar at the age of 14 after a sports injury prevented him from pursuing anything of
athletic interest. His first serious music lessons took place at A Lotta Music in his hometown of Medford,
New Jersey, and within two years, he was asked to become a teacher there. After his exposure to jazz and
contemporary music in high school, Ian decided to pursue music full time and enrolled at the University of
the Arts. He is currently working toward a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Jazz Performance. His most
influential teachers include Shawn Christie, Dave Manley, Tom Giacabetti, and Mike Quaile. He has performed
at numerous venues in the Philadelphia area including Chris’s Jazz Café, The Merriam Theater, and The Academy
of Music. Presently, Ian lives in Philadelphia and continues to nurture the jazz community with fellow
musicians of similar interest. |
